Violence Impacts Many People
We see that many people are shocked by the violence in the footage. It is a significant issue and there is a lot of discussion and concern. The police, three municipalities, and schools have been in contact with those involved and people from the surrounding area over the past two weeks.
In the municipality of Tiel, as well as West Betuwe and Buren, there is a lot of discussion. ‘The footage of the assault on a minor girl has deeply affected us. We understand the emotions this evokes in our communities. It is crucial that we as a society do not react out of anger, but out of connection and responsibility. This incident underscores once again how important it is to continue the conversation about respect, bullying, safety, and how we treat each other – at home, at school, online, and on the street. We are collectively committed to supporting and empowering youth, parents, and schools in this regard,’ say mayors Van Egmond (Tiel) and Stoop (West Betuwe). They also call for calm and trust in the ongoing investigation.
