On the A2 highway near Vianen, a vehicle with stolen license plates was driving on the night of Friday, August 22 to Saturday, August 23. These plates were stolen earlier that night in Liempde, Brabant. Near Gouda, LX officers spotted the vehicle with three occupants and immediately initiated a chase. Once on the highway, the fast Volkswagen Golf reached speeds of up to 260 kilometers per hour. The chase spanned multiple highways and passed various towns. In Utrecht, the vehicle eventually ran out of fuel on Moldaudreef, after which the three occupants were arrested.
Jerrycans and Balaclavas
When the vehicle was searched, officers found several jerrycans containing a flammable liquid, as well as gloves and balaclavas.
Helicopter View
Additionally, the police helicopter observed and recorded that something was thrown from the vehicle during the flight. This occurred at an exit of the A27. A police search dog later found a mobile phone along the side of that road a few minutes later. This phone has been seized for further investigation.
Suspects
The suspects are a 30-year-old man from Schiedam and two men aged 26 and 24 from Utrecht. All occupants are suspected of receiving stolen goods, theft, and preparation for ram raids and bomb robberies.
