During the unannounced inspection, dozens of storage units were opened and checked. The purpose of the inspection was to verify that the units are used correctly, namely for storage. The inspection also focused on the storage of hazardous materials, such as illegal fireworks.

In order
The municipality, together with the police, conducted the inspections to ensure that the storage units in the city are not misused. Most units were in order. In a limited number of units, violations were found, such as the storage of illegal fireworks, illegal substances, and misuse of the storage units. The police confiscated the illegal fireworks, removed the hazardous substances, and are further investigating the misuse of some storage units.

Inspections to improve safety
Garages and storage units can be used to carry out illegal activities unnoticed. This can lead to nuisance or dangerous situations, not only for the user and landlord but also for the surrounding area. Risks include fire hazards, health damage, and attracting criminal activities. Therefore, the municipality regularly inspects these locations in close cooperation with the police.
