On Sunday, April 20, the police received a report from a woman who had been assaulted by the suspect. Her home had been vandalized and she had sustained serious injuries. Neighborhood investigations unfortunately did not yield a suspect, but it was known which vehicle the man had fled in. This vehicle was captured by ANPR cameras the next day. On the A16, the suspect was spotted on the evening of April 21 around 10:30 PM. Several police colleagues from the National Expertise Unit pursued the man. The suspect chose to ignore the signal on the A16. This resulted in a chase that ultimately moved from the highway into the urban area. On the highway, the man exhibited dangerous driving behavior and drove at high speed towards Tilburg. Here, he took the exit and entered the center of Tilburg.
He again drove at high speed through the streets, ignored red traffic lights, and drove on bike paths. After a while, the vehicle came to a stop on Kruisstraat. The 55-year-old man from Rijen got out and began to run. Near Besterdplein, a bystander stuck out their leg, causing the suspect to fall and be apprehended. The man was taken to the police station.
