The National Investigation and Intervention Unit, under the direction of the National Prosecutors Office, started an investigation after several packages containing medicines and drugs were intercepted in Belgium. A few weeks ago, the police also intercepted a shipment of forty kilograms of MDMA pills in the Netherlands. The men, aged 33 and 39 from the municipality of Moerdijk and 46 from the municipality of Rucphen, are suspected of drug trafficking and illegal trade in medicines, with goods being sent from the Netherlands abroad. During searches of various premises, including homes, dozens of kilograms of drugs were found, including MDMA, LSD, and amphetamine. Medicines and packaging materials for the drugs were also found. Additionally, the police seized heavy fireworks and vehicles. The suspects are in custody for questioning and will be presented to the examining magistrate on August 29.
Drug Industry the Cause of Serious Crime
Drug production and trafficking underlie many undermining issues in the Netherlands. This manifests itself in liquidations, violence, threats, corruption, money laundering, and the mingling of the underworld with the upper world. Therefore, it is crucial that we take strong action against criminal networks involved in drug production and trafficking.
