Escaped wolf bites three sheep to death, animal shot

On Saturday morning, the police received multiple reports of a loose wolf in the Kasteellaan area in Tegelen. It turned out to be an escaped hybrid wolf, not a wild wolf. A hybrid wolf is a cross between a dog and a wolf. Earlier, the animal had bitten three sheep to death in a meadow.
The wolf was followed for a long time by police officers. Attempts were made to enclose and capture the animal, but this was unsuccessful. Because the wolf wanted to run towards the A73 in the area of Leemhorsterweg in Belfeld, it was decided to shoot the animal. This was to prevent an unsafe situation for road users.
The police are conducting further investigation into this incident.
