Report
At around 16:00, the police received a report of a collision between a car and a cyclist at Beneden Veensloot in Meeden. Upon arrival, it turned out to be an accident in which the cyclist had been seriously injured. This is a 73-year-old woman from Oldambt. The MMT and ambulance arrived on the scene and the woman was taken to the hospital. The car involved in the accident was nowhere to be found.
Investigation
Police investigation was immediately initiated. Through Burgernet, more information about the car and the driver was disseminated. It was possibly a gray car with damage to the front that had driven off in the direction of Winschoten/Veendam. This investigation led to the discovery of the sought-after car later in the evening. Additionally, a 35-year-old man from the municipality of Westerwolde was arrested for possible involvement in the accident. He is in custody and being interrogated.
