On Sunday around 6:00 PM, a collision occurred between a harbor service boat and an inland vessel. After the collision, the harbor service boat and its two crew members could no longer be traced. A large rescue operation on land and water was launched. Various services collaborated to find the two missing men as quickly as possible. By the evening, the search for the men and the boat had to be called off without results.
Recovery of Bodies
On Monday, October 27, the search continued, and specialists from the National Underwater Search Team (LTOZ) of the police went out on the water with a sonar boat. In the afternoon, the team found the body of the missing 30-year-old man from IJmuiden lifeless in the water of Afrikahaven. Divers from the DSI recovered the body.
During the night of Monday, October 27 to Tuesday, October 28, the lifeless body of the 24-year-old missing man from Haarlem was found in the water. This body was also recovered by divers.
