On the night of Sunday, September 28 to Monday, September 29, a 31-year-old man was shot. The man was found seriously injured in his home. Emergency services were quickly on the scene and provided immediate assistance. Unfortunately, this was not enough, and the man ultimately died from his injuries. The police immediately launched a large-scale investigation and subsequently identified the 42-year-old suspect.
In recent days, a PD unit was stationed in the street, and Nieuwstad was cordoned off. Among other things, surveillance footage was secured and examined. Various witnesses and residents were also interviewed. Additionally, extensive forensic research was conducted.
The victim and the suspect are known to each other. The suspect is currently in custody and will be presented to the examining magistrate on Friday, October 3.
