On Saturday, August 9, around 1:00 PM, the victim (16) was riding his girlfriends fatbike on Buitenhovelaan in Middelburg when he saw some acquaintances standing in a small park in the Dauwendaele neighborhood. Among the group was also the later suspect, who he did not know. The suspect asked if the victim could take him somewhere on the fatbike. The victim agreed. When they arrived at the destination, the suspect got off and pulled out a gun. He threatened the victim and demanded the fatbike. After the perpetrator left on the bike, the victim called the police. Meanwhile, it turned out that the stolen fatbike was emitting a signal at an address in Middelburg. The police indeed found the bike there. The suspect was also arrested shortly thereafter. Because his description and method of threatening with a gun appear in various reports, the police are investigating what other offenses the man may have committed.
