At this moment, there is no reason to fear for Tijns life, but we are concerned about his well-being after months in hiding. He is probably not going to school, which raises significant concerns about his (social) development and mental health. His future is uncertain. It is therefore of utmost importance for Tijn that all information or suspicions regarding his whereabouts are shared with the investigation team. A child must not simply disappear. Do not look away and contact us if you know more or have seen Tijn.
Investigation
Tijn left on the evening of Tuesday, January 14, heading to an unknown destination from his residence, and it was soon suspected that he had been removed from the legal guardianship established over him. Since his disappearance, the detectives have been investigating his whereabouts and have already deployed many available investigative resources. Initially, we conducted targeted, extensive research in his social environment, where many possible involved parties were heard. When that did not lead to the discovery of his whereabouts, we disseminated his photo on March 7 with a call for anyone with information to come forward. The investigation led to the suspicion of the now arrested man and woman. After the arrest, we searched the homes of both suspects. We also conducted investigations at other locations, seizing data carriers.
Belgium
Tijn has not yet been found, and therefore the investigation continues unabated. The most important thing is that we find him in good health. However, we do not rule out that more arrests will follow. The investigation team is convinced that there must be people who know more about the disappearance and/or whereabouts of Tijn and who have not yet spoken out. Since links to Belgium can also be made from Tijns family and social circle, the investigation team is expanding the search area for Tijn across the border. From now on, active calls are also being made in Belgium to look out for the missing Tijn. People in Belgium who have information or think they have seen Tijn can share their tips via the free tip number of the Belgian police, 0800-30300. Filling out the tip form on the Dutch police website is also possible: https://www.politie.nl/tijn

The abduction of a minor from parental or legal guardianship is a serious crime. There may also be people who have been unknowingly involved in Tijns disappearance.
