The victim contacted the police after the theft. The detectives immediately launched an investigation in the vicinity of the theft. The bag was found with its contents, but a significant amount of money was missing from the womans wallet.
The Investigation
The detective team conducted further forensic investigations, interviewed witnesses, and reviewed CCTV footage. The suspect was clearly identified in the footage. The neighborhood officers from Charlois recognized the suspect. After consulting with the Public Prosecution Service, the police arrested him outside of the act.
The TPE (Team Immediate Response) ultimately arrested the suspect, a 24-year-old man without a permanent residence, in a house in Dordrecht.
The Verdict
The suspect appeared in court on Tuesday, March 25. He was sentenced to three months in prison and must repay the stolen goods to the victim. In addition to this prison sentence, the suspect must also serve a previously imposed sentence.
