Area-focused approach
The area around Kruisstraat and Woenselse Markt in Eindhoven is diverse in cultures, lifestyles, and entrepreneurship. Efforts are being made to strengthen the positive aspects of this area. This is part of the Pact Woensel Zuid.
One of the ambitions is for people to feel comfortable and safe at Woenselse Markt and Kruisstraat, both at home and on the street. This is done, for example, by reducing heavy traffic and litter and working on a broader range of shops.
At the same time, there has long been crime, nuisance, and public order disturbances at Woenselse Markt and Kruisstraat. In Project Aurora, the municipality, police, public prosecution service, and tax authorities work together to tackle this persistent undermining. Not only this year but in the coming years. This is done, among other things, by detecting and combating criminal networks. The aim is to break the attraction this area undesirably has on criminals. They also want to prevent these criminals from relocating (entirely) to another area in the city. In this way, space is created for improvement of the area and contributes to a pleasant and safe neighborhood.
