Witnesses sought after collision with pedestrian on Mariniersweg Rotterdam

On November 7, a collision occurred on Mariniersweg, near the intersection with Vogelenzang in Rotterdam, between a car and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a 29-year-old man from Rotterdam, was seriously injured. The driver fled the scene. The police are investigating and seek witnesses.

The collision occurred around 7:25 PM. Two pedestrians were crossing Mariniersweg at the pedestrian crossing, coming from the direction of Vogelenzang towards Bredestraat. The road has two lanes at this point. On the right lane, a driver stopped to let the two men cross. After they crossed the right lane, a car passed the stationary vehicle on the left lane. One of the men managed to avoid the car by stepping back. He was lightly touched by the passing car. The other man was hit by the passing car and was thrown onto the road through the windshield.

The car did not stop and fled the scene, continuing towards Burgemeester van Walsumweg. The investigation is ongoing and we would like to get in touch with witnesses of the accident.
