On the morning of Wednesday, December 10, the police in Hoofddorp checked bicycle lights and mopeds riding on bicycle paths where this is not allowed. Eleven fines were issued.
With a moped, you ride on a bicycle/moped path. You recognize such a path by a sign showing both a bicycle and a moped. If you only see a bicycle, it is a bicycle path and you must use the roadway with a moped.
On Sloterweg and Zeemanlaan in Badhoevedorp, the police checked in the afternoon whether people ran red lights. Seventeen cyclists, moped riders, and motorists received fines.
Since we were there anyway, we also paid attention to other traffic violations. In total, 53 fines were issued, including for:
- 7 times speeding,
- 7 times holding a phone while driving/cycling,
- 1 time not wearing a helmet,
- 2 times illegal parking,
- 1 time a modified fatbike,
- 1 time no decibel killer on a moped (this is mandatory to ensure the moped does not make too much noise),
- 6 times other offenses.
