On Monday, September 8, a break-in occurred at the canteen of a football club. The police launched an investigation. A DNA trace led to the 40-year-old suspect, who was arrested at his home in Rotterdam on November 11. A few days after the arrest, the case was brought before the court through the so-called expedited trial. The suspect was found guilty and sentenced to ten weeks imprisonment.

Increase in Burglaries in Charlois
The burglary on Charloisse Lagedijk is not an isolated incident. In the Charlois district, there has been a rise in burglaries in recent months, especially in commercial properties and vehicles. In October alone, there were fourteen burglaries in buildings, homes, and canteens in Charlois. In November, the count stands at seven. Additionally, there were 51 vehicle burglaries in October and fourteen so far in November in Charlois. The police are focusing on preventing burglaries through surveillance and on tracking suspects after a burglary has occurred. However, the police cannot do this alone.

Prevent Burglary
Always close and lock your windows and doors, even if you are only away briefly. Ensure extra security, such as good locks and outdoor lighting. It is also important to make the environment unattractive to burglars by putting away items like ladders and not leaving valuables in sight. This also applies to your vehicle; always lock it properly and do not leave valuables visible. More tips can be found on the police website.
