In recent weeks, several residents reported to the police that a possible intrusion had taken place in their homes. This occurred in Anna Bijnsstraat and Pattistpark. Money and jewelry were taken during the break-ins.
Tips and Reminders
Keep in mind that sometimes people with bad intentions want to enter your apartment complex. So be aware that no stranger slips in with you. Tell that person to wait until the resident they are visiting opens the door themselves. If they have good intentions, they will surely understand why it is better to ring the doorbell at the house they are visiting instead of walking in with you. Also, make sure that when you are absent, even if it is just to check your mailbox, you always lock your front door. Not just pulling it shut, but really locking it with the key. People with bad intentions can enter your home through slipping if it is not locked. (Slipping is a method where an intruder uses a hard piece of plastic between the lock and the frame to open the closed door.) And finally, a very simple tip: do not let strangers in when someone presses the intercom. So do not blindly press the unlock button of your intercom without listening to who it is.
112
If this has not worked and there is someone in the complex that you do not trust, you can always call the police. Do that, because we prefer to come for nothing than to have another burglary occur. In suspicious situations that require immediate police action, you may always call 112.
