Around the mentioned time, a group of people was playing a paintball game on the grounds of the holiday park. Apparently, a dispute arose between two groups over how the game was played. This escalated into a fight that moved to a terrace. Members of both groups, visitors from Maarssen in Utrecht and tourists from Israel, were involved. The fight continued on that terrace, with several individuals delivering significant blows, and according to witnesses and those involved, discriminatory and possibly threatening slogans were shouted.
Arrest
Thanks to the intervention of the alerted police, both parties were separated, and calm was restored. In this violent incident, a 37-year-old and a 41-year-old man from Israel were injured. One of them sustained a serious head injury. Officers immediately started an investigation into the events, leading to the arrest of the 15-year-old suspect. We took statements and interviewed multiple witnesses. The two victims were treated for their injuries by ambulance personnel.
Further Investigation
The investigation into the events continues today. This incident appears to involve violence with a possible discriminatory context. This is also subject to investigation. As police, we condemn violence in all its forms and are a police force for everyone: regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, disability, belief, religion, political affiliation, or any other grounds.
