A resident of Kamerik received a call on their landline from someone pretending to be an agent from an intervention team. He didnt trust it, so his wife, in another room and using her mobile phone, called the police. While the conversation between the man and the fake agent was ongoing, the police listened in live and provided the man with instructions.
The scammer asked the couple to gather their valuable items, including their mobile phone with the PIN written on a separate piece of paper. These items would then be picked up by the scammers at their home to protect the couple from potential theft of these expensive items. Meanwhile, an unmarked police car was on its way to the couples home to apprehend the scammers, who could arrive at any moment.
And so it happened, the courier who came to collect the loot and the driver were caught red-handed when they arrived at the home. Investigations are still ongoing regarding the third suspect who was on the phone.
