At around 9:15 AM, a bystander called emergency number 112 to report that multiple people were fighting at a campsite near Baarle-Nassau. The caller indicated that officers needed to respond urgently. Several police officers immediately headed to the scene. Upon arrival, it was confirmed to be a conflict. The officers tried to calm the situation. During this, one of the officers was struck. The suspect, a 68-year-old man from Rijsbergen, was arrested. The man was taken to the police station. No injuries were reported.

Violence against police officers (GTPA) is unacceptable

Aggression and violence against police and emergency workers is unacceptable. Police officers have a responsible role in society and must be able to perform their duties without hindrance. Aggression or violence, in any form, against staff is not tolerated. This applies to everyone working at the police: officers, detectives, dispatch center employees, reception staff, and support department employees. Violence against people with a public task is always a priority for the police. For more information, see this page.
