Traffic Safety and Undermining Central at Large-Scale Traffic Control at Ahoy Site

On Sunday, August 31, there was a large traffic control at the AHOY site in Rotterdam South. Many motor vehicles were removed from the road and thoroughly checked to improve traffic safety and combat undermining.

The control was carried out by the police, with the traffic enforcement team, the Tax Authorities, Customs, and enforcement from the municipality of Rotterdam supporting. Of the nine people arrested, six were driving under the influence. One person was driving with a revoked license, one was arrested for the ID law, and the last for ignoring a stop sign.

The Tax Authorities collected €47,000 in overdue payments. They seized 25 vehicles, three of which were towed immediately. Customs checked vehicles for hidden spaces and investigated goods for which the excise duty had not been paid. The Port Police also checked 35 Dutch and 60 foreign documents for authenticity.
