The victim was shot on Friday, April 18, at around 19:50 at the corner of Paets van Troostwijkstraat and Oudemansstraat. The man was seriously injured and was urgently transported to the hospital where he died later that evening.
Under the direction of a Public Prosecutor, a Major Investigation Team has been established to investigate the case. During the investigation, the identity of the now-arrested suspect came to light. He was arrested outside of immediate action on Sunday, April 20, in The Hague at the request of the public prosecutor. Additionally, a black Citroen C1 was seized, which was presumably used as a getaway car.
The role of the now-arrested suspect in the case is being investigated. More arrests are not ruled out. The suspect is under full restrictions, meaning he may only have contact with his lawyer. The police and the Public Prosecution Service are therefore cautious in sharing substantive information.
