The police received information that an illegal car meeting might take place that Saturday evening in Eindhoven. Investigation revealed that a large group of vehicles was present or on their way to the parking garage. Both inside and outside the garage, the vehicles were subjected to inspections. Several fines were issued mainly for technical defects, such as a non-gas-tight exhaust and sharp protruding parts on a car. Fines were also given for causing unnecessary noise. The drivers of the estimated 30 cars in the parking garage were fined because they used the garage without the owners permission for a purpose other than intended, namely for a car meeting.
Insulting Police Online
During this inspection, one of the involved individuals, a 45-year-old man from Amsterdam, repeatedly insulted police officers. He was found to have made several video recordings. On Sunday, it became clear that he had posted videos on social media showing police officers and containing insulting texts. Furthermore, the man threatened to organize more illegal car meetings if the police did not waive his fines. The man from Amsterdam was arrested on Sunday afternoon at a residence in Eindhoven. He was interrogated and released later that evening. A report is being drawn up against him.
