Around half past two in the morning on Thursday, June 12, a fire broke out at a construction company. Flames were shooting from the roof, and multiple fire trucks were needed to bring the fire under control. The Sunday before, the same building was the target of an explosion. At that time, around half past two in the morning, an explosive was thrown inside, causing a short fire that extinguished itself. The police suspect that there is a connection between the two incidents. Other incidents are also being investigated by the same detective team.
After the explosion on Stadionweg on Sunday, June 8, a car fire occurred on Monday, June 9, on the Regenboog in Rhoon. The next incident was the large fire on Stadionweg on June 12. On June 26, an attempt was made to set fire to a house in Rhoon. This was narrowly prevented by the residents who caught the perpetrators in the act and chased them away. On June 26, traces of an attempted arson were found at a construction site in Oud-Beijerland. On June 29, two more car fires followed, shortly after 4 AM on Krommedijk in Dordrecht and at half past five in the morning in Dordrecht, both on a company van.
Motive
Since all locations and vehicles are linked to the same construction company, it is suspected that the incidents are related. The reason why this company would be targeted is unknown. The police are investigating this and would like to get in touch with anyone who might have more information.
