The video shows an act of abuse of a girl by a group of girls. This occurred in Tiel on April 19. We understand that the footage provokes reaction and emotion. We take this matter very seriously and have already identified all those involved. As they are all minors, we will not share further information about them.
We see that the sharing of personal data has gone so far that a woman who is not involved in the incident is being threatened, even at her workplace. This is unacceptable. The (online) sharing of someone’s personal data for intimidating purposes is also punishable by law.
First, investigate the facts
The investigation into what exactly happened and who played what role is still ongoing. It is important that the facts come to light. The police and the Public Prosecution Service do not assess a case solely based on short video clips. There is more to it. For example, there will be interrogations. We also urge people who have experienced something similar to come forward to us. More videos are circulating on social media showing a possible act of abuse. We ask people to come forward to us if this has happened to them so that the police can also investigate it.
If you have information that you think could help this police investigation, please share it (anonymously) with us. We have already identified those involved, but additional information is always welcome.
