Online Fraud
The fraud has been ongoing for some time. The suspects are said to have built professional-looking online shops, where fatbikes were offered at attractive prices. However, after payment by customers, the bikes were never delivered. A report was first made in November last year. The subsequent investigation revealed that there may be multiple victims. So far, eleven reports from victims across the country have been registered, but the police suspect there are more victims.
Exploitation
The fraud may involve criminal exploitation. Vulnerable individuals are said to have been pressured to provide their identity and bank account details for the fraudulent practices. These so-called moneymules may have been threatened in some cases.
Investigation
During the police investigation on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, officers conducted a raid and house search in s-Hertogenbosch. Two suspects were arrested. They are a 19-year-old man from s-Hertogenbosch and an 18-year-old man from the same city. During the search, several items were seized, including phones and laptops. The duo is in custody, and the police investigation into their involvement is ongoing.
