At the request of the Central Judicial Collection Agency (CJIB), the Coordination Execution Tasks team (CET) of the Limburg unit and the Fugitive Active Search Team Netherlands (FAST NL) arrested the man and transferred him to a prison.
Vulnerable women
The now 72-year-old man has an outstanding prison sentence of 2157 days. He was sentenced to prison for abusing his position as a bailiff against vulnerable women. As a result, he not only acted unlawfully himself but also tarnished the office and undermined trust in it.
In exchange for sex
Between 2002 and 2016, the man frequently visited women with debts in Limburg as a bailiff. He repeatedly suggested that they could pay off their debts in exchange for sex. He exerted pressure by threatening to seize belongings and evict them from their homes. In 2017, he was confronted by Alberto Stegeman. Following that, a criminal investigation was initiated, resulting in his arrest. He was held in pre-trial detention for three days at that time.
Supreme Court
In 2021, the man was sentenced to 5 years in prison, but he appealed that ruling. The appellate court increased the sentence slightly to 6 years. He then appealed to the highest court, the Supreme Court. On April 22, the man lost his case at the Supreme Court, making the conviction final.
