On Wednesday, October 8, the police intervention team HIT arrested four suspects during an operation aimed at drug trafficking on suspicion of dealing in narcotics. These include a minor boy, an 18-year-old man, and a 23-year-old man, all from Groningen. A 21-year-old man from Paterswolde was also arrested. They have been heard and released after interrogation.
Searches
Additionally, three homes in the city of Groningen were searched. During these searches, a large amount of cash, a significant quantity of soft and hard drugs, illegal fireworks, a knuckleduster, counterfeit money, and a large quantity of (illegal) vapes and cigarettes were found and seized.
Structural Approach Against Undermining Crime
The actions are part of a broader, structural approach in the province of Groningen. The HIT intervention team promptly addresses signals of drug and weapon trafficking and money laundering. This is possible because local residents report signs of undermining crime to the police via 0900-8844. This can also be done anonymously via meldmisdaadanoniem.nl or by calling 0800-7000.
