Checks were carried out at dozens of addresses across the city. At several locations, illegal fireworks were indeed found. In total, 75 kilos of fireworks were seized, including cobras. Additionally, several kilos of explosives were discovered. The fireworks and explosives were secured and transported to a specially designated location where they are safely stored or destroyed.
Earlier signals had been received regarding the checked addresses indicating possible storage or possession of illegal fireworks. Illegal fireworks pose a significant risk: they are often unstable, more powerful than allowed, and can cause fires, explosions, and serious injuries if stored or used improperly. This risk applies not only to those involved but also to neighbors and emergency responders.
The investigation into the origin of the fireworks and possible involvement of others is ongoing. Twelve suspects must report to the police station next week for questioning.
Administrative measures
In addition to criminal prosecution, we share information with the municipality, which can take measures such as fines to stop prohibited behavior.
