Yesterday we asked the public for help to identify a long, gray rod with a knife. A long, gray rod measuring approximately 1.50 to 2.00 meters was found at the crime scene. A knife is attached to this rod. It is suspected that this object was assembled by the suspect themselves. People may recognize the description of this object or may have seen someone walking with it around the time of the incident.
Tonight we will show images of this object in the broadcast of Opsporing Verzocht. Opsporing Verzocht can be seen on NPO 2 and starts at 20:25. The repeat is on Wednesday afternoon around 13:30 on NPO 2.
Camera footage and witnesses
The investigation team is still looking for camera footage and witnesses who saw or heard anything. At the time of the incident, Monday morning, September 15 around 08:00, but also immediately after the incident or a few days before. We also request dashcam footage taken in or around the area of Keulsebaan.
The suspect is believed to have a slender build, between 1.70 and 1.75 meters tall, and was wearing black clothing and a black balaclava. We do not rule out that the suspect may have been injured in the incident.
