On Tuesday, July 15, the police received a report of a shooting incident on Bosweg in Gouda around 15:30. Upon arrival, emergency services found the victim, a 39-year-old woman from Eindhoven, on the street. She died on the spot from her injuries. After a lengthy search, the suspect was found seriously injured in the dunes at Zwarte Pad in Scheveningen around 20:05. Emergency services attempted to perform life-saving measures, but to no avail. The man died on the spot. So far, there have been no indications from the investigation that a crime has occurred; the police are treating it as a suicide. The suspect is the ex-partner of the deceased woman, a 53-year-old man from Eindhoven.
Since the suspect has died, there will not be a public trial, and the police and Public Prosecution Service are being cautious with statements about the case.
