In the night from Tuesday, January 16 to Wednesday, January 17, 2024, an arson occurred at a house on Waalstraat in Beverwijk. The police arrested a minor boy from Heemskerk on Tuesday, April 29, for involvement in the arson. On Wednesday, January 17, 2024, around 00:50, an arson occurred at a house on Waalstraat in Beverwijk. The suspect, who was captured on CCTV, first caused the fire and then threw a stone through the front window, allowing a lot of oxygen to enter and causing the fire to grow quickly. The suspect then fled on foot. The residents of the house were asleep at the time of the arson. Thanks to the dog barking and the residents waking up, the fire could be extinguished just in time.
