At around 8:30 PM, the police received a report from a 28-year-old man from Rotterdam who said he was being held hostage. The victim was approached by two men at his car in a parking lot on the side of Henry Dunantstraat in Barendrecht. They threatened him with a firearm and forced him to go with them. When the man got into his own car, the two suspects followed him.

During the ride, the victim noticed that they were being followed by a small car with a woman inside. At one point, the man managed to escape from the car. While fleeing, he called the police. Shortly thereafter, he was hit by the car that was following them. The two men then returned to the victim and assaulted him.
Officers quickly arrived on the scene and were able to arrest the three suspects on Groene Kruisweg in Poortugaal. They include a 19-year-old man from Rotterdam, a 36-year-old man from Lochem, and a 19-year-old woman from Rotterdam. The police have started an investigation into the circumstances of this hostage situation.
