Bystanders intervened on Thursday evening, May 8, 2025, during a robbery at a store on the Boulevard in Roosendaal. The perpetrator threatened the staff with an object that strongly resembled a firearm, but which later turned out to be a fake gun.
Suspect arrested
The report came in around 8:30 PM to the police. A man with a weapon was said to have entered a discount store demanding money. Some customers fled further into the store, but others saw an opportunity to intervene. They managed to overpower the 15-year-old suspect from Ossendrecht and pushed the fake weapon aside. After the boy was brought under control, officers took over the arrest. The police are investigating the weapon and will interrogate the suspect. No one was injured during the robbery.

Fortunately, this time it ended well and no one was injured. While we respect the customers who intervened, we still warn against doing so. Armed robbers are in a very stressful situation and are unpredictable. It can therefore end very badly. Take care of your safety and that of others and seek a safe place in such situations.
