Around 00:35 last night, the control room received multiple reports of the accident. Various emergency services quickly arrived on the scene. A trauma helicopter also landed on the highway. Five victims were found on the highway. Two victims had to be rescued from their car by the fire department. All victims were transported to the hospital. One of the victims has died from his injuries. It concerns a 35-year-old man from the municipality of Venlo.

The highway was closed for hours but is now clear. Specialists from the Forensic Traffic Investigation and Traffic Investigation Team are investigating the circumstances of the collision.
