At approximately 16:20, we received a report of a threat involving a firearm at a residence on Koerierstersespel in Leeuwarden. When we arrived, the suspect was no longer present. A search was immediately initiated in the neighborhood.
Suspect arrested
The suspect was shortly thereafter found on the bike path at Groningerstraatweg. Because the suspect did not comply with officers instructions and possibly still had a firearm, a warning shot was fired. Ultimately, the suspect, a 41-year-old man from Leeuwarden, was arrested. No firearm was found during the arrest.
The suspect remains in custody and is being questioned.
