Rescue workers responded on Friday evening around 6:00 PM to a report from residents of a farm on the Maaij that they had found a seriously injured family member in a stable on the property. Upon arrival, officers determined that the man had died and that there were indications to initiate a criminal investigation. The victim did not live on the Maaij; he was registered in the Belgian Lommel.

Shortly after the violent incident, officers arrested the 63-year-old suspect near his home. What exactly happened between the two men is still under investigation.
