Earlier in the investigation, two individuals were already arrested. They were released after questioning but remained suspects. Based on new information, these two persons were arrested again on Thursday (a 25-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man from the municipality of Veendam). Additionally, a third person has come into focus during the investigation. This person, a 26-year-old man from the municipality of Veendam, has now also been arrested as a suspect.
The three individuals are detained at the police station and are being questioned. The investigation continues unabated and benefits from relative calm. We understand that the fact that the police are conducting an investigation raises emotions and questions among those involved and their close environment. However, due to the privacy of those involved and because the investigation is ongoing, we cannot provide further details about the role or involvement of the arrested persons in the death of the boy at this time.
