Fire
The front door of the house on Slenkstraat was severely damaged. The residents were home. Two individuals were checked by paramedics, but no one was injured. The perpetrator(s) fled, presumably in a car. The police searched the area, including with the help of a helicopter. The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
Closure and CCTV
A few hours later, at 1:15 AM, another explosion occurred on Kilstraat in Purmerend, which is close to Slenkstraat. There are suspicions that the earlier explosion on Slenkstraat was a mistake. Deputy Mayor Chris Boer has decided that the house on Kilstraat will be closed for a month immediately. Additionally, there will be two months of CCTV monitoring in the area, and enforcement and police will increase their patrols.
Help the police
The police urgently need the help of citizens to track down the perpetrators. Neighbors know their street, neighborhood, and residents best. If something seems off in the street scene, it often stands out first. Everyone with information is asked to share it with the police.
