During searches in the house, an unknown substance was found. As a precaution, the six homes in the complex were evacuated, and part of the street was cordoned off. For further investigation, specialists in chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear substances (CBRN) and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) were present. The items found will be further examined by the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI).
The fire department and ambulance services were also present with multiple vehicles.
Investigation Continues
Around 7:00 PM, the building was released, and the situation was safe. The house is sealed, and the police investigation will continue on Tuesday morning. Until then, the police will remain present in Landgraaf. Since the suspect is under restrictions and the investigation is still ongoing, no further announcements can be made.
Carefulness
We understand that there are questions about why the search took some time. Carefulness takes precedence over speed. The safety of the local residents and the responders has always been the number one priority.
