Eleven Activists Arrested After Occupation of Utrechtsebaan
Gebied: Den Haag
Activists from XR were arrested today, Tuesday, October 28, for blocking the Utrechtsebaan in The Hague. Blocking the highway is dangerous and prohibited. People could demonstrate at the designated location on Laan van Reagan and Gorbatsjov. Two were arrested for vandalism, one for violating traffic laws (obstruction), and eight for hindrance.
The individuals arrested for obstruction had chained themselves to barrels which were then filled with concrete. They had to be cut loose by the police. One of the activists sustained a minor hand injury. The activist was treated on site and examined by a police doctor at the police station.
The eleven individuals were taken to the police station for further processing. 100 activists were arrested for violating the Public Manifestations Act and transported to Fokkerkade where they continued their way.
