The accident happened around 10:30 PM. The three involved vehicles were driving on Heistraat. At some point, they came into contact near a refuge island. Two of the cars then collided head-on. This involved a car and a service hearse. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, including a trauma helicopter. Emergency services began life-saving measures on the driver of the car. He and his two passengers were subsequently taken to the hospital. There, the 44-year-old driver died from his injuries. The driver and passenger of the hearse were also taken to the hospital. The occupants of the third car were not injured. The police are still investigating how the accident exactly happened.
