The police tracked down the suspect after various reports. He allegedly sold vapes to minors via social media, among other methods. The trade of vapes to minors is illegal and is therefore strictly enforced. After investigation, the police were able to arrest the 18-year-old man from Amsterdam. During the search of his home, in collaboration with the NVWA, a second arrest followed for possession of hard drugs. This concerns a 28-year-old man from Amsterdam. The more than 900 vapes found have been seized. Both suspects may await further investigation in freedom.
The use of vapes by minors is particularly harmful to health. E-cigarettes often contain nicotine, which is highly addictive and can have harmful effects on the development of the brain in young people. Additionally, vapes may contain other harmful substances that can damage the lungs and other organs.
