Officers acted immediately. The report came in at 03:40 and by 04:30, three suspects were in the police detention center on suspicion of committing multiple car burglaries. People who have become victims of these burglars are invited to file a report. The car burglaries likely took place last night in Bernhardsingel, Vredenburchsingel, and Zaart in Breda.
Hiding on the Roof
The vigilant neighborhood resident went out to smoke a cigarette in his garden when he suddenly heard a loud bang. He looked into the street and saw three young men breaking into a car. He immediately called 112 to alert the officers. They arrived quickly, but the three boys fled as soon as they saw the police approaching. They disappeared into a dried-up ditch and onto the roof of a house. After a brief search, which included the use of a sniffer dog, all three boys were found in Willem van Oranjelaan. One of the suspects was likely injured when breaking a car window.
Resisting Arrest
Officers handcuffed the boys to take them to a police detention center. Some suspects resisted so violently that this had to be done urgently. They tried to bite and kick the officers to escape their arrest.
The three boys are 15, 16, and 17 years old and come from Ter Apel and Breda. The 16-year-olds residence is (still) unknown. They have been detained and will be heard on Friday regarding the facts they are suspected of. The police seized items from them that may be stolen.
