During the inspection, the migration dog detected that there were people in the trailer. The migration dog is part of the sea port police and is trained to detect people. After opening the trailer, six people were found inside. They came from Afghanistan and Iraq.
The driver from Turkey was arrested for human smuggling. The six stowaways, including one minor, were also arrested. The Department of Immigration Police, Identification and Human Trafficking (AVIM) is conducting further investigation into this case.
What are stowaways?
Stowaways are people who illegally try to travel abroad inside or under a truck. They often receive help from third parties. This is considered human smuggling. Be alert to signs. If you see suspicious situations, report them to the police.
