The police received the report of the incident on May 22, around 5:00 PM. After the stabbing, the suspects fled, but thanks to information from witnesses, four boys were quickly apprehended. They are two 18-year-old boys from Middelburg, an 18-year-old boy from Hoogeveen, and a 14-year-old boy from Middelburg.

The suspects were taken to the police station. There they were tested for alcohol and drugs. The results of both tests indicated that the boys were not under the influence. The police are conducting further investigations into the cause of the stabbing incident.
