In an earlier phase of the investigation, a suspect was arrested who is suspected of involvement in the victims death. This suspect is still in pre-trial detention. Additionally, camera footage has been secured from vehicles that drove through parts of Simpelveld and Kerkrade at the end of July. Based on further investigation, a search was again conducted last week at the residence on Heistraat and additional neighborhood investigation took place.
The police are specifically looking for witnesses who heard or saw something unusual in the Heidestraat or the immediate vicinity in July.
