The police conducted an investigation starting in May this year into a suspect due to suspicions of drug trafficking. Based on previously intercepted messages from Sky ECC, the police suspected that the suspect had been involved in drug trafficking in 2020 and 2021. This year, after investigation, it became apparent that he might still be involved in drug trafficking. Therefore, the 32-year-old man was arrested on September 9 on suspicion of possession of drugs and trafficking. The suspect is still in custody for questioning and will be presented to the examining magistrate on Friday.

Car and money seized
During a search of the suspects home, a large amount of cash (including a crypto wallet) and materials for cutting hard drugs were seized. The suspects car, two phones, and a watch were also seized.

Using hacked crypto chats
The suspicions are based, among other things, on information obtained from Sky ECC, an encrypted messaging service. In 2021, law enforcement agencies managed to gain access to millions of messages from users of the platform and could read encrypted messages from criminal organizations live. Sky ECC was taken offline by the police in March 2021, and the data was intercepted. Through this intercepted data, a large number of suspects were arrested and sentenced to long prison terms. To this day, the police continue to track suspects via Sky ECC.
