Money Has Been Withdrawn From Your Account

Money has been withdrawn from your account, a so-called bank helpdesk employee informs by phone. The owner of the bank card states that no withdrawal was made. Additionally, information comes in that an amount has been taken from the mans credit card. Fortunately, both payments were stopped by the fake bank. It is now important that the bank cards of the man and his partner are read out and shredded. The man does not trust the story and alerts the police. Meanwhile, a courier from the so-called bank is on the way to collect the cards.

Arrests

Thanks to the mans alertness, this courier is arrested at the door. In the vicinity, officers also find two accomplices of the fake bank. An 18-year-old man from Amsterdam, an 18-year-old man from Diemen, and a 17-year-old woman from Amsterdam have been arrested.

What Can You Do Yourself?
If you doubt whether you have a scammer on the phone, even with slight doubt: disconnect immediately. Look up the correct phone number of the bank, police, or government agency yourself. Call and ask if what you were told and asked to do is correct. You can also always visit your bank branch or police station and share your experience. This is the only way to be sure you are actually speaking to the right person or agency.

Victim of Telephone Fraud?
If you have become a victim of telephone fraud, do not be ashamed. You are definitely not the only one this happens to. Therefore, always contact your bank immediately to block your account. And always report it to the police. This can be done by phone, in person at the station, or in many cases also online. Also share your story with friends and acquaintances. This helps prevent new victims from being made.
