Several times, the informants parents had been harassed by fake bank employees. Over the phone, criminals constantly asked for money, PIN codes, and valuable items. After yet another time, the son had enough and forwarded his fathers phone to his own phone.
When a fake bank employee called again, he cleverly led them on a wild goose chase. The son was instructed to display his valuable items on the kitchen table, after which the employee would come by that evening. In the meantime, the informant called the police, and several officers gathered around the house.
Surprise!
Unbeknownst to him, the 24-year-old fake bank employee thought he could collect his loot, but nothing was further from the truth. Upon entering, he was confronted by the son. The suspect fled, and the son ran after him. A police officer then arrested him a short distance away. The suspect was taken to the police station and was questioned there. The police are conducting further investigations.
Have you become a victim yourself?
Always file a report! There is nothing to be ashamed of. The scammers are becoming increasingly clever and truly overwhelm their victims in a smart and cunning way. It is very important for the police that a report is made. This way, we get a clear picture of where the fraud takes place. And we can investigate whether there is a connection between the various reports.
Remember!
The bank or the police never asks for login details, PIN codes, bank cards, or other valuable items to be collected.
